Oil vs. Natural Gas
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, oil heat systems are 16% more efficient than gas heating systems and 30% more efficient than electric heating systems. From a cost standpoint, oil heat costs less than gas heat for 11 out of the last 12 years. In fact, the U.S. Department of Energy also expects gas prices to rise an average of 31% faster than oil every year through 2010. U.S. Department of Energy statistics also show that electric heat costs are up four times as much as oil heat.
In addition to outperforming natural gas in efficiency, fuel oil burners are among the cleanest forms of energy production. A fuel oil burner produces practically no particulate emissions over the course of a year. Making fuel oil and natural gas almost identical in the emissions they emit while producing heat. As a service to our customers we provide a free automatic delivery service. We use a state of the art computerized system to monitor the average “degree day” index for each customer. These tools allow us to calculate how much fuel you will consume on an average day and, therefore, allow us to formulate a timely delivery schedule to meet your needs.
The “degree day” is a form of measurement that computes the amount of oil your home or business will consume depending on the outside temperature. Our system calculates how many degree days it will take to consume 1 gallon of fuel oil and based on this information your delivery schedule is created.
