The price of fuel oil is the result of several different factors. Some of the most important indicators of fuel oil price are: the price per barrel of crude oil, the cost incurred to refine the oil, distribution costs, and taxes applied to fuel oil by state and local governments.
Heating oil prices fluctuate on a regular basis. These changes occur seasonally because the demand for heating oil is high in the winter and are very low the rest of the year. The price of fuel oil is also determined by factors such as supply and demand and geopolitical events.
